Instructions
Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Incorporate the softened butter and shortening into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Make a well in the center of the dry mixture, then pour in the cold buttermilk and honey. Stir gently with a fork until just combined.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and fold it over onto itself 2-3 times.
Pat the dough down to a thickness of about 1 inch and use a 2-inch round biscuit cutter to cut out individual biscuits.
Arrange the cut biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, placing them closely together.
Bake the biscuits for 10-12 minutes, or until their tops are golden brown.
Remove the biscuits from the oven and brush the tops with melted butter.
Serve the biscuits warm right from the oven.
Notes
Serve warm with honey or whipped butter for an elegant touch.
